Fenders - John Martin

Sailing (or motoring) with your fenders over the side of the boat is considered very poor seamanship.  It is sort of like a man walking down the street with his fly open, and the shirt tail sticking out.  Or, a woman coming out of the restroom with her skirt tucked into the back of her panty hose.  There is nothing really wrong with either of these, it just does not look very good.
