Ahhh...daylight savings and spring in full effect...even a pollen-filled day on the lake is better than being in the office. April is typically the month where the cruisers start showing up at marinas to give their boats a fresh wash and air out the cabin.

By now the racing crew and other year-rounders have a couple months under their belt, welcoming the sight of more sailors as the weather calls to them.

Whether you're new to the Atlanta area and looking for a friendly group of sailors hang with, a sailing family wanting to meet like-minded people or an old salt in need of fresh meat to tell their war stories to, we have an event for you.

Saturday, April 16th is our cuddle-up raft-up. Friends, family’s, comrades, come one-come all. Spend the day, and night if you like, on the water with other sailors. Show off your favorite boating dish, laugh, and have a great time.

Sunday April 17th is the fifth and last of the Nippert Series races. Skippers in close rankings will be battling it out for first place to claim their fleet’s trophy.

Saturday April 23rd is our annual Paella Party at Aqualand Marina. This is a rain or shine event. Visitors are only $5.00 per person or join SSC for $50 and the entire family will eat without any charge. It is a Southern Sailing Club tradition to bring a dessert or appetizer to share.

Sunday April 24th is our Master’s Cup. Skipper’s over 50 this is your calling. There’s no better way to earn bragging rights for the next year.

Saturday April 30th is our Lormand Cup for the single-handers. Show off your mad solo skills in honor of Ed Lormand, who sailed his Yankee 28 single-handed from Fernandina Beach, Florida to England in 1977.

We are looking forward to meeting new sailors, their families and friends. Come join us for one of our events this month. No boat? No problem, it’s the Southern Sailing Club way to show you our ropes – we’ll get you on the water.
